The first thing to say is that guitars are (1) difficult to play well (2) almost indispensible in music production. Historically, this was a problem for many keyboard players who had to find a qualified guitar player in order to work on their music projects.

With the advent of samplers in the 1990s and of a workable virtual instrument technology in the 2000s, the technological platform was laid for the development of a truly realistic virtual guitar solution.

As of 2010, it can be said that MusicLab's virtual guitar series is the only fully functional platform, and that its performance is truly amazing. Of course, a video or audio demo (see here) will speak louder than words; suffice it to say that coupled with AmpliTube or GuitarRig, RealGuitar / RealStrat / RealLSP are absolutely realistic and tremendous. We have also evaluated these products with Catanya which adds more arpeggio patterns to the already enormous collection offered by MusicLab.

Now that drumming and guitar playing have been virtualized to such a level of ease-of-use and realism, access to professional music production has been made easier than ever.
